A few showers Sunday night, then a dry first week of November

This Sunday morning dawn arrived an hour earlier thanks to the switch back to Standard Time. Meanwhile clear skies and calm winds allowed Saturday's warmth to radiate into space overnight, and temperatures plummeted to the dew point. The result? Fog formed across much of Mecklenburg County this morning. This graphic illustrates the process:

Today will be mostly sunny with afternoon highs in the mid-60s. That's pretty typical for the beginning of November. This month temperatures continue the cooldown from summer's heat to winter's cold, with average highs by the end of the month sagging into the mid- to upper 50s.

As sunset arrives this afternoon - an hour earlier! - clouds will begin to thicken thanks to a developing coastal storm. After the dinner hour showers will become likely across Mecklenburg County. A tenth to a quarter-inch of rain is expected by dawn Monday as that low pressure crosses the Outer Banks of North Carolina and moves off the coast.

Skies will begin to clear by lunch time Monday, and the remainder of the work week looks to be sunny and dry. Afternoon temperatures will gradually rise from the low 60s tomorrow into the upper 60s by the end of the week. A few 70ยบ readings aren't out of the question either!
