Sprawling high pressure across the eastern U.S. is keeping very "autumnish" conditions in Mecklenburg County. This Wednesday morning's low temperatures reflect that per this graphic:
These delightful thermometer readings are ten degrees cooler than the average daily lows for the last week of August. In turn, afternoon highs both today and Thursday will also be cooler than average, topping out in the upper 70s to perhaps 80ยบ in a couple of spots.Another cold front will reinforce this taste of fall when it arrives on Friday. No rain is expected during this boundary passage, and the upcoming Labor Day weekend promises to be a continuation of this bright and beautiful weather.
Meanwhile, a look back at July's conditions shows higher than average dew points (left panel below) and rainfall totals (right panel) for the region. The contrast between last month's very hot sticky weather and the pleasant weather currently in place is somewhat jarring...but the break in summer's heat is welcome!
