After Wednesday's wild weather, quiet conditions for the weekend

The severe weather this past Wednesday only resulted in one tornado report (circled in red below) down near Charlotte NC, but there were plenty of strong wind and wind damage reports:

Fortunately conditions have calmed quite a bit and the weekend weather looks decent. Today - Friday - Mecklenburg county skies will be partly sunny, accompanied by westerly breezes at 5-10 mph. Temperatures will climb from near the freezing mark this morning to top out in the mid-50s, a few degrees below average for the daily maximum on March 7th.

On Saturday a weak cold front will cross the region, bringing a slight chance of showers after lunch. However, much of the day looks sunny with afternoon temperatures topping out in the mid-60s. The main point to remember Saturday night is to turn those clocks and watches ahead one hour...at least those which don't do it automatically. Love it or hate it, Daylight Saving (no "s") Time arrives at 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Remember, "Spring Forward"!

On Sunday a low pressure center scoots eastward across the Gulf states. It will track far enough south that Mecklenburg county won't see any rain, but enough clouds will be around such that skies will be only partly sunny. After another morning start near the freezing mark local thermometers will again climb into the mid-50s.

Next week, the 70s look to make a triumphant return!
