Warm midweek with a chance at November thunderstorms(?!)

Monday's blogpost mentioned the chance at patchy fog on Tuesday. That "chance" turned into pea-soup fog for a chunk of Mecklenburg county as temperatures and dew points remained joined at the hip until late morning. Fortunately this Wednesday morning is much clearer as exhibited in this snapshot from the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce webcam page:

Today's skies look to remain at least partly sunny, with temperatures climbing from the mid-50s to near the 80 degree mark. That's well above November averages, as this calendar month typically begins with daily highs in the upper 60s and ends with highs in the upper 50s. Southwesterly breezes will continue to pump warm moist air into the region today ahead of the next cold front, which is over the Ohio valley as this post is written.

Clouds will be on the increase tonight with light showers possible after midnight. Thursday will then dawn mostly cloudy and warm, with temperatures beginning the day in the mid-60s before climbing to 80 degrees during the afternoon. Sunshine will become more prevalent as the day progresses, helping to fire up scattered convective showers and even a few thunderstorms(!) after the dinner hour.

Precipitation chances will continue overnight Thursday as the aforementioned cold front crosses through the county, but amounts in area rain gauges will likely only total up to a tenth of an inch. Locales which experience a thunderstorm may see more than this, but it's still not enough to alleviate the very dry conditions.
