Improving conditions for the weekend

Finally, the weather pattern changed and gifted Virginia with widespread rainfall! Since the precipitation began liquid totals of 0.98", 1.14", 1.04", and 0.76" have been recorded respectively at South Hill, Boydton, Chase City, and Clarksville. A stray shower or two may scoot through Mecklenburg county this Friday morning, but overall the local weather conditions look to improve as today progresses.

The main "bringer of the rain" was a low pressure center, which had moved off the Outer Banks of North Carolina as of 7 o'clock this morning:

That storm system will continue on its way eastward today. As it does so the morning cloud cover will give way to sunnier skies by midafternoon. Temperatures will top out in the mid-50s, accompanied by a north wind at 8-10 mph.

The weekend weather then looks to be very pleasant for mid-November as high pressure takes control. Both days will feature clear skies and afternoon highs in the low 60s after a chilly start to each morning. Light northerly breezes will continue on Saturday before swapping around out of the west on Sunday.

Happy Friday!
