The brief interlude of rain from tropical systems earlier this month is a distant memory. Rain has become a scarce commodity around the area, and that doesn't look to change anytime soon. Here's the seven day outlook for precipitation (Mecklenburg county is at the black star):
The storm track seems to be stuck west of the Appalachians, keeping the Mid-Atlantic pretty dry. This week's Drought Monitor (released on Thursdays) may well reflect this arid trend.Meanwhile this - Sunday - morning's clouds are due to an upper level disturbance which crossed northern North Carolina behind yesterday's cold front. Today will thus turn out only partly sunny after a number of days which were bathed in full sunshine. Temperatures look to top out only near 60 after morning lows hovered around 50 degrees.
The work week will feature a warmup after a Monday morning which could bring scattered frost across the county. Tomorrow will start out in the mid-30s before temperatures top out in the mid-60s Monday afternoon. The remainder of the week will bring back above average temperatures and more sunny skies.
