Another wet weekend is in store

Mecklenburg county just can't seem to shake less-than-desirable weather for the weekends. Today - Friday - will feature clouds and light afternoon showers with the promise of heavier precipitation tonight. Temperatures which are in the low 70s as this blogpost is written will top out in the upper 70s before dropping into the low 60s overnight.

Both Saturday and Sunday will have a scarcity of sunshine but a plethora of rain as shown on this NWS Wakefield forecast graphic:

After the 2+ inches of rain around the county on Tuesday of this week another 1.5-2 inches of liquid could very well fill local streams to overflowing. Thus flooding is a distinct possibility, and drivers should beware of ponding of water on roadways. "Turn Around, Don't Drown" is the phrase to keep in mind.

High temperatures Saturday will be in the low 70s while the mid-60s will do it for Sunday. With the average highs at 79 degrees at this point in May it'll be much cooler than normal. Fingers crossed that Memorial Day weekend will bring better conditions for outdoor activities!
