Happy Easter! Those attending sunrise services around Mecklenburg county this morning found mostly clear skies and temperatures ranging from the mid-40s to the low 50s. Afternoon highs will climb to near 80 degrees(!) in the warm air mass hugging the area south of a stationary front which bisects Virginia from west to east.
Later this afternoon rain may interrupt a few outdoor festivities as northwest winds in the upper air guide showers and storms from the Ohio valley into southern Virginia. The Storm Prediction Center doesn't expect severe weather for Mecklenburg county but areas to the west are under a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) as shown on this graphic:
This setup will look very similar both Monday and Tuesday as the aforementioned stationary front wobbles north and south across the Old Dominion. Chances of showers and storms will continue both days, with steadier rain arriving Tuesday night into Wednesday as a cold front approaches.
The first part of the work week will remain warm, with local thermometers dancing with daily highs around the 80 degree mark. Wednesday will be a transition day with highs in the upper 60s, and the latter half of the week looks to be much cooler with afternoon highs only in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.
