A frosty Sunday morning...but the 60s are coming!!

The winds have been very active recently, creating havoc in some spots across Virginia with gusts over 40 mph. Wind occurs as air flows from high pressure toward low pressure as shown on this graphic:

The tighter the pressure gradient, the stronger the breeze. As winter storms build and intensify that pressure gradient increases, resulting in a broad area of blustery winds.

Fortunately this week will bring a break from strong winds caused by winter storms. In fact, today (Sunday) will be the coolest day of the upcoming week. Morning temperatures sagged into the mid- and upper 20s and will rebound into the upper 40s this afternoon.

The remainder of this week looks to be much milder. Monday afternoon highs in the low 50s will give way to daily highs in the 60s by Tuesday. That warmth will continue throughout the work week, with partly to mostly sunny skies every day through Thursday. Friday and Saturday will then feature some rain ahead of the next plunge in temperatures.

Happy Sunday!
