Today - Sunday - will continue the hot stickiness of July, with a heat advisory in place across Mecklenburg County. Heat index values will rise above the triple digit mark by the noon hour, with air temperatures approaching the mid-90s. However, the semi-regular daily deluges from showers and storms aren't expected today.
Then, overnight into the early hours of Monday morning a "cold" front will actually pass through the region. It will take a while for the cooler and drier air behind it to seep in, so expect some showers and storms tomorrow afternoon into the evening hours. Temperatures Monday will begin the day in the sticky mid-70s before topping out near 90º during the afternoon.
By Tuesday morning the air containing somewhat lower dew points (and thus less stickiness) will filter into the county. Morning temperatures at or below 70º will prevail through the work week, while afternoon highs look to "only" reach the mid- to upper 80s.
