A southwesterly breeze ahead of the next cold front will pump warm air into the region under sunny skies today (Monday). As a result temperatures will climb to afternoon highs near 80º across Southside Virginia, including Mecklenburg County. Enjoy the early spring "heat", because local thermometer readings will drop behind that oncoming cold front.
Tuesday will begin with temperatures having fallen only into the low 60s. The cold front looks to cross the county at or just after breakfast, swapping winds around out of the west. Early clouds - and perhaps a brief shower or two - will give way to full sunshine by the lunch hour. Meanwhile those westerly breezes will intensify, gusting over 30 mph at times tomorrow.
Both temperatures and dew points will drop noticeably late Tuesday afternoon, with the former values sagging below 50º by sunset accompanied by continued robust breezes. Wednesday will then begin in the mid-40s, only warming into the mid-60s with more gusty winds keeping that "springtime" feeling in the air.
This week's storm track across the eastern half of the nation is denoted on this graphic by the black arrow:
Note that this precludes any measurable rainfall reaching Mecklenburg County (the black star). Last week's Drought Monitor showed an improvement locally, but this week's dry conditions may worsen that outlook.
