Calm but chilly conditions for Santa's visit

Both Chase City and South Hill registered 18º as the lowest readings this Monday morning around Mecklenburg county. The Arctic air responsible for this level of chill will slowly work its way out of the region today. Sunny skies will help temperatures top out in the low 40s this afternoon, but that's still almost ten degrees below the average.

The waters of Buggs Island Lake / Kerr Reservoir look inviting today:
However, water temperatures are only in the upper 40s, so anyone venturing out on the lake should be careful to avoid getting wet!

The next several days will feature "cut and paste" weather. Partly to mostly sunny skies and high temperatures near 50º will characterize Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. No precipitation is expected locally, but some showers will slip by just south and east of the county on Tuesday morning. By Friday afternoon highs will inch back into the low 50s.

Given the holiday there will be no Wednesday blogpost this week. The next entry will arrive Friday morning to take a look at weather for the last weekend of 2024. Meanwhile, Merry Christmas!
