Sunday posts are usually published around breakfast time, but not so today. Regardless, the mostly overcast skies and cooler than average temperatures are courtesy of a cold air damming wedge that will only gradually ease off over the next 24 hours. The result will be showers and light rain the remainder of Sunday into Monday morning.
Temperatures will top out in the mid-40s this afternoon before dropping into the low 40s overnight. Monday will then warm into the mid-50s under mostly cloudy skies as "Da Wedge" slowly eases out of the area. Occasional peeks of sunshine should brighten the afternoon hours before the sun sets at 5 o'clock in Clarksville.
The first half of the work week will be warmer than average, but chillier air is on the way again late in the week. This Climate Prediction Center forecast graphic indicates cool conditions for the East Coast leading up to Christmas.
Beyond this period indications are that things will warm up a bit for the last half of December. Don't count on a white Christmas this year.
