Later this week a shift will occur from mild early autumn weather to more raucous conditions and chillier air. In the meantime today - Monday - will continue the nice weather pattern of the past few weeks. Skies look to be mostly sunny across Mecklenburg county today, accompanied by light winds as high pressure moves overhead.
After morning lows in the mid-40s temperatures will climb to the 70 degree mark this afternoon. That's eight degrees above the average high of 62 for this date. At sunset local thermometers will still be registering in the mid-60s, falling into the mid-40s by sunrise Tuesday.
Tomorrow will then feature partly sunny skies, with cloud cover increasing as southerly breezes usher in moisture ahead of the next weather system. There will be a chance of light showers after the dinner hour Tuesday evening. Highs tomorrow afternoon will top out again near 70 degrees, dropping to the mid-50s by dawn Wednesday. "Hump Day" will then be the pivotal weather day of the week.
Instead of focusing on the upcoming shift to chillier weather how about a neat satellite loop featuring sunrise approaching the eastern U.S.?
