Nice weather Sunday before the heat and humidity returns

Feel that? The cloying humidity which has hung around Mecklenburg county for weeks has taken a brief break on this last Sunday in July. That has allowed temperatures to begin the day in the comfortable low 60s and will top out in the mid-80s this afternoon under sunny skies. This is all thanks to the latest "cold" front which pushed well south of the region as shown on this visible satellite view:

However, it IS still summertime. And as such the humidity will return along with the heat. Showers and storms will become more numerous during the first half of the work week. Then as August begins on Thursday the heat currently building across the central U.S. will creep eastward to bump high temperatures back into the 90s.

Meanwhile after this morning's sunrise at 6:17 a.m. Sol - our sun's official name - will set at 8:24 p.m. this evening. Those times will occur later and earlier (respectively) as we get further away from the June solstice. But in the meantime today looks like a good time to enjoy the outdoors!
