The current mild weather pattern continues for Mecklenburg county. After a sub-freezing start today (Wednesday) will bring light winds, sunny skies, and temperatures which will top out in the mid-50s this afternoon. High pressure parked across the eastern half of the lower 48 states is responsible for these pleasant conditions.
Thursday will begin chilly with more sub-freezing temperatures before warming into the low 60s by the afternoon. Southwesterly breezes gusting over 20 mph at times tomorrow will pump in warmer and moister air. Clouds will work their way into the area ahead of an approaching storm system as the day progresses, with skies becoming overcast after sunset. That low pressure center will cross the Appalachians Thursday night, bringing light amounts of rain on Friday to end the work week.
