This Sunday morning began with Mecklenburg county thermometers reading at or just above the freezing mark. Abundant sunshine will help those readings climb to the low 50s this afternoon in the chilly air mass left behind following yesterday's cold front. Winds will be light today, so it will feel comfortable outdoors despite the lower than average temperatures.
However, as shown in this forecast graphic warmer air isn't far away:
Thus the next few days will feature warmer than average temperatures. The tradeoff will be more clouds than sunshine during the early part of the work week as moisture surges in from on south winds. Monday's high temperatures will climb into the mid-60s under partly sunny skies, with showers moving in late Tuesday into Wednesday.
The latter part of the work week will then bring another cold front. Thursday and Friday will be cool but not particularly cold for the end of February and the beginning of March. Oh, and remember that this year February has 29 days, so Thursday will be Leap Day!
