Happy 2024! This is a brief New Year’s Day update on the weather conditions to begin the week in Mecklenburg county. A surface cold front crossed the county just before sunrise this morning, thus winds will swap around out of the northwest as the morning progresses. Clouds will clear away by lunchtime, leaving behind sunny skies and afternoon highs near 50 degrees.
Tonight’s low temperature will drop into the upper 20s, and then Tuesday’s highs will again top out near that 50 degree mark under sunny skies. Northwesterly breezes will stick around tomorrow, with both Monday and Tuesday seeing gusts up to 15 mph or so.
Other than a slight chance of showers from a storm system passing through the Carolinas Wednesday night the rest of the week’s weather will be dominated by high pressure. Changes are on the way, however, so stay tuned!
