A quiet weather spell lies ahead

As advertised the quick-hitting upper level system which dove south yesterday didn't bring much precipitation with it. The clouds associated with that system will thin and begin to break up later this Wednesday morning. Thus the afternoon hours will feature partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 40s around Mecklenburg county.

Conditions over the next several days look pretty calm and stable. High pressure will dominate the weather, with local thermometers registering morning lows in the 30s and afternoon highs in the mid-50s. No major weather systems are due into the county through the weekend.

Looking ahead at the month of February the first half looks to bring at or above average temperatures:

However, a peek at the latter half of the month indicates a flip back to cooler than normal conditions:

Even though to date snow has been scarce across Southside winter is not over yet. Sometimes February can bring a fair amount of white stuff. We'll keep an eye on things, but for the moment the shovels can remain propped in the corner.
