Clear sailing for the week ahead

Despite a Tornado Watch and several nearby Tornado Warnings, the only confirmed tornadoes from the passage of Isaias's remnant circulation over this past weekend occurred in the Carolinas. Mecklenburg County didn't even get a lot of rain as compared to counties further west:

However, the multi-inch deluge of rain to the west is making its way downstream. This forecast graphic shows the expected rise in the Roanoke (or Staunton) River level at the gauge in Randolph in Charlotte County:

So despite today's (Monday's) bright sunny skies and dry weather a surge of water will continue downstream on its way to Buggs Island / Kerr Reservoir. And speaking of today's conditions, temperatures under those clear skies will climb from morning lows in the mid-60s to afternoon highs near the 80ยบ mark. A northerly breeze stirring the air and dew points in the low 60s will combine to make today feel nice.

Tuesday will begin a bit cooler with local thermometers bottoming out in the mid-50s. But by tomorrow afternoon those readings will be in the low to mid-80s. Both figures are about ten degrees warmer than average for the middle of October. The clear skies and warmth will stick around for the remainder of the work week, but a stronger autumn cold front looks to cool things off considerably for the upcoming weekend.
