The Arctic air which settled in behind Sunday's cold front resulted in these bone-chilling Monday morning low temperature readings across the region:
Fortunately the winds died down considerably after midnight, so wind chills this morning weren't as rough as they could have been. Afternoon highs will only top out in the mid-30s, but sunny skies and a light breeze will make today feel a bit more comfortable.
The core of the cold air will slide off the East Coast tonight and will be replaced by a more seasonable air mass. After a chilly start in the mid-20s Tuesday will warm into the upper 40s under continued sunny skies. The rest of the work week will be even warmer than that, with the potential for even some 60ยบ readings Thursday afternoon.
These average to above average temperatures look to hold sway through the end of December. There will be a few glancing blows of chillier air, but at the moment the overall pattern seems to keep the worst of the Arctic air further north. Stay tuned!
