Today - Sunday - looks to be the hottest day this week around Mecklenburg County. Twin influences of an approaching cold front and powerful Hurricane Erin will combine to make this week a bit cooler. After highs in the low 90s this afternoon the work week will feature temperatures in the 80s.
Those two weather features could bring some decent rainfall to the region as well, despite the fact that Erin's center will remain well off the East Coast. This Weather Prediction Center forecast hazard graphic indicates the potential for heavy rain later in the week:
