The "muggies" will prevail during this work week

Dew points across Mecklenburg County are in the low 60s this Monday morning, which is reaching the "muggy" levels of humidity. A warm front bisects Virginia and lies north of the county, opening the door to higher moisture levels streaming in via south winds. Today will thus wind up partly sunny with afternoon highs in the mid-80s.

Tonight looks to turn mostly cloudy as that moisture continues to build in. Tuesday will dawn with both temperatures and dew points in the mid-60s. A cold front will move in (as shown on this forecast surface map at 8 a.m. Tuesday) and stall across the region for most of tomorrow:

The overall result will be increasing shower and thunderstorm chances tomorrow, especially during the afternoon and evening. Rain totals don't look very impressive at the moment, with county gauges likely collecting a quarter-inch of liquid at most. Temperatures Tuesday will top out in the low 80s under mostly cloudy skies.

The remainder of the week also looks cloudy and damp, with temperatures and dew points continuing to resemble summer rather than mid-spring.
