Thursday's cold front passage created light showers, with rain totals ranging from Clarkville's 0.12" to South Hill's 0.38". Cooler air streaming in behind that boundary dropped this (Friday) morning's thermometer readings into the low 40s. Today will feature sunny skies, westerly breezes, and afternoon highs which will struggle to reach the 60ยบ mark. That's a few degrees below the average for today.
The weekend itself will be dry and sunny. Temperatures Saturday will begin the day in the upper 30s before climbing into the low 70s tomorrow afternoon. Breezy westerly winds will keep the air stirred ahead of another - dry - cold front, which will pass through near the dinner hour tomorrow.
On Sunday those breezes will calm a bit as they swing around out of the south. Sunny skies will help local thermometers rise from morning readings in the upper 30s to the mid-60s during the afternoon. Then Sunday evening clouds will build in ahead of another chance of rain on Monday. Additional rain is actually good news, since the latest Drought Monitor still has much of Southside Virginia under "Abnormally Dry" conditions:
Happy Friday!!
