Quiet weather continues this week

The recent weather pattern has resulted in calm and dry conditions across Mecklenburg county. This Monday morning local thermometers again dropped into the upper 20s in many spots. A light northerly breeze blowing across the mid-40s water temperature of Buggs Island / Kerr Reservoir kept Clarksville's minimum reading at 30 degrees.

Strong high pressure across the eastern half of the nation will keep skies sunny locally today. That feature has suppressed a vigorous low pressure system southward along the Gulf Coast, where thunderstorms with several tornadoes were reported yesterday. Here's a visible satellite loop of that system swirling around:

This afternoon Mecklenburg county temperatures will climb back into the mid-50s accompanied by a northeasterly breeze. Those readings will drop back into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees tonight under continued clear skies. Tuesday will look and feel much the same as today, but with temperatures topping out near 50 as those northerly breezes usher in slightly cooler air.

Happy Monday!
